Are you affected by Relapsing Forms of Multiple Sclerosis?


We are carrying out an important clinical trial of a new treatment for people with RFMS. This is a validation study to check that a particular imaging technique works.
There are no expected benefits to you from participation in this study, it is purely for research purposes. However, by taking part in this study, you may be helping future patients by contributing to medical knowledge about RFMS.


To be eligible for this trial you need to be:


Aged 18-60
Diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) or relapsing secondary progressive MS (SPMS), known as relapsing forms of MS (RFMS).
Registered with a GP who will be informed of your participation
**Please note the following criteria regarding medication


You cannot be included in this study if you have taken or had any of the following medications or procedures within the 6 months before the start of the study:

o Natalizumab

o Rituximab

o Daclizumab

o Cyclosporine

o Azathioprine

o Methotrexate

o Mycophenolate mofetil

o Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg)

o Plasmapheresis or cytapheresis

You cannot be included in this study if you have taken or had any of the following medications within the 30 days before the start of the study:

o Fingolimod

o IV corticosteroid treatment

o Oral corticosteroid treatment

o Glatiramer acetate

o Dimethyl fumarate

o Teriflunomide

o Beta-interferon

A list of other criteria will be applied by the study doctor to assess your eligibility for the study.



Study participation
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) scans will be taken at various times. The PET and CT scans will be collected by a single instrument during the same imaging session and henceforth this procedure will be called PET scan in this form.

If you are included in this study you will have approximately 4 outpatients visits to the study site or imaging center.

Your participation will last approximately 7 weeks.
Study compensation
In recognition of your time involved in this study you will receive £1,250 and all your travel needs will be organised by us.
